DWELLING is a three-channel video installation that showed at London's Raven Row gallery as part of the Spectres of Modernism project curated by Clare Carolin.
Artists were invited to document the struggle against a luxury apartment block that would overshadow homes on Golden Lane Estate. To make DWELLING, we attempted to capture the shared political imagination of the residents of these homes by asking them to speculate about the near and distant futures of their neighbourhood. Audio from these interviews play over three different visual acts: a survey of the estate interrupted by a hexing of the new development; a visual inventory of the residents’ homes; and the residents’ communal protest. These fragmented vignettes together form a cross-temporal portrait of neighbours fighting for their home as they imagine it to be.
